A young artist, native to Portland, Gunnar's unique pen and paint drawings on paper evoke philosophical meanings not readily seen at first glance. Sometimes playful, sometimes serious, his tight, illustrative ink lines and delicate washes of paint, offer up simple compositions for complex thoughts. His use of graphic novel style, of punched out images, where subjects stand isolated within their picture plane, draws you in to be among them, to examine the detail and leaves you wanting more.
Opening night will be 9/5/13 in conjunction with First Thursday in the Pearl with the show continuing through 9/22/13.
