Art in the Open - 8/18-19/17
Busy, busy, busy! Old Town Chinatown’s “Art in the Open” Performance Art Festival is coming to Fotoeffect’s neighborhood! A free two-day outdoor event, the festival will bring the streets and sidewalks of Old Town Chinatown to life by hosting a myriad of open air performances that engage the local residents and draw people from all over the city. Performing artists will be paired with local businesses at different locations and on a main stage in the heart of Old Town. Performances will feature everything from a singer/songwriter playing her guitar to a Street Roots vendor reading his poetry and open air karaoke.
For our part, Fotoeffect is partnering with other artists from the ESL Gallery Association to create works of art on the four quadrants of a ping pong table. As a “working” piece of art, you’ll be able to stop by and play with friends or ITTF ranked Ping Pong players (including Vilèm)! And, of course, all the ESL galleries, will be open to offer art viewing and shade from the heat.
The event will run Friday, August 18th, 11 am - 4 pm, and Saturday, August 19th, 11 am - 8 pm. Find the full list of locations and schedule of performances on the event’s Facebook page. Come play some Ping Pong with us!
